Privacy Policy

How we collect, use and protect your personal information when you use Exam Compass.

Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Exam Compass ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores and protects your personal information when you use our website and services. By using Exam Compass, you consent to the practices described in this policy. We are committed to handling your data responsibly and in line with applicable data protection laws, including the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) and, where relevant, the EU/UK GDPR.

Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, including your first and last name, email address and contact number when you create an account or download a readiness report. We also collect data generated through your use of the platform, such as the ACCA paper selected, your intended exam sitting, assessment answers, confidence ratings, readiness scores, topic performance and feedback you submit. We may automatically collect limited technical information such as device, browser and usage analytics to operate and improve the service.

How we use your information

We use your information to: provide your diagnostic assessment and generate your readiness report; create and manage your account; personalise study guidance and benchmarking; understand product usage and improve our services; build anonymised, aggregated benchmarks across candidates; and, where you have not opted out, send you relevant updates about Exam Compass. During our current validation phase we also measure interest in premium features.

Legal basis for processing

We process your personal data on the basis of your consent (which you may withdraw at any time), the performance of our service to you, and our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving the platform. Where we rely on legitimate interests, we ensure these are balanced against your rights and freedoms.

Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell your personal data. We may share information with trusted service providers who help us operate the platform (for example, hosting and database providers) under appropriate confidentiality obligations. If, in future, you choose to be referred to a tuition provider, we will only share information necessary for that referral and with your consent. We may disclose information where required by law or to protect our legal rights.

Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences, and we may use limited analytics to understand how the service is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not function correctly if disabled.

Data retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. Aggregated and anonymised data used for benchmarking may be retained indefinitely as it no longer identifies you.

Data security

We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or alteration. While we work hard to safeguard your data, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, update or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to request a copy of your data in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@examcompass.ai and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

International transfers

Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own. Where we transfer data internationally, we take steps to ensure it remains protected in accordance with this policy and applicable law.

Children's privacy

Exam Compass is intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under this age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date below and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of Exam Compass after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
